What is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the cannabinoid molecules produced by the cannabis plant. Unlike THC, the more potent and well-known component of cannabis, CBD is non-psychoactive, meaning there are no intoxicative effects. The most notable aspect of CBD is its usefulness as a therapeutic agent, in particular its ability to reduce anxiety and pain.

Benefits of Cannabidiol (CBD), CBD Oil, Cannabis Oil, and Hemp Oil

Studies on CBD and CBD oil, cannabis oil, and hemp oil have shown a great deal of promise when it comes to their safety and therapeutic uses. To understand their various benefits, it’s first important to understand their key differences.

CBD oil is produced with a focus on its high CBD content. It can be derived either from a cannabis plant or from a hemp plant. At My CBD Etc. we only sell hemp CBD products.

Cannabis oil comes only from the cannabis plant, and often from strains with high THC content. As such, it contains high concentrations of cannabinoid, which is known to have a psychoactive effect. We do not sell cannabis CBD products.

Hemp oil comes from the industrial hemp plant. It contains high amounts of CBD, as well as trace amounts of THC. Because the THC amounts in hemp CBD oil are so small, there are no psychoactive effects.

While cannabis oil is known for a wide range of health and medicinal benefits, including reductions in chronic pain, inflammation, anxiety, and depression, its high-THC content means that users are likely to feel intoxicative effects when using it. CBD oil derived from hemp, however, offers many of the same benefits without the psychoactive side-effects.

The researched medicinal benefits of hemp CBD oil are vast. They include nausea relief, reduction of pain and inflammation, reduction of anxiety and depression; and benefits as a sleep aid. Hemp CBD oil has found widespread appreciation for its role in the promotion of an overall healthy lifestyle.

How can CBD be used?

There are a range of ways to consume CBD oil, each with a particular cannabidiol potency level and a specific mode of consumption. These include oral CBD oils that are administered with a dropper, sprayer, or tablespoon, capsulated CBD oils, CBD vape oils, topical CBD ointments, and CBD crystals. Most of these do carry very trace amounts of THC, though not enough to feel intoxicated. THC-free CBD oil can be purchased, and offers the same benefits.

Who should use CBD?

CBD has been safely used by many adults, teens, children, and even pets, as a pain and anxiety reducer, and as a supplementary treatment for various medical conditions. As with any substance, use of CBD for adults, children, and animals alike should be properly dosed and closely monitored.

FDA disclaimers

It’s important to note that hemp CBD oil is in its early stages of innovation, and the FDA has not yet formally approved cannabidiol as a cure or treatment for any disease. Though research and human experience have shown a large amount of promise for CBD’s therapeutic benefits, at this stage My CBD Etc. cannot make or support any medical claims related to cannabidiol, and specifically hemp CBD oil.
